Padar Island is a relatively small island that is located in Komodo National Park, which is located Southwest of Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). It is located between the islands of Rinca and Komodo Islands. Komodo National park is a World Heritage Site from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO). This island is an absolutely must stop location when you are visiting Komodo National Park. Padar is smaller than the islands of Komodo and Rinca but bigger than the islands of Gili Dasami and Gili Motang. This area is administrate under the Regency of West Manggarai in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Padar is the third largest island in the Komodo National Park area. Padar is a stunningly beautiful island with four very large and deep bays with different color sand beaches, including…white, grey and even pink. There is one main hiking trail that goes to the top of the island and has an incredible panoramic view. Overall the topography of the island is quite rugged with steep volcanic mountains that surround the bays. The island has a quite dry climate and in most of the dry season the moutainous terrain is brown, but during the rainy season, it can be extremely green. Padar is a popular tourist attraction in Komodo National Park which is very famous for Komodo Dragons, Scuba Diving, and Snorkelling. If you decide to visit Padar on one of our tours, you will also take a stop on Komodo Island or Rinca Island, which has the famous Komodo Dragons. The Komodo Dragons, which are Giant Lizards, that can measure up to over 9 feet (3 meters) long. Climbing to the top of this island can be life changing, as the beauty of the bays are absolutely stunning. In recent years, there have been steps and a well maintained trail to the top of the mountain. To climb to the top takes approximately 45 minutes. Once you get to the top, you might forget any hardships of the trek because you will be taken away by breathtaking views. You can see the beautiful beach bays and islands all around, as well as the crystal blue waters of Leech strait.
