Kanawa island in Komodo National Park is one of the most famous islands in the area and is an absolute exotic tropical paradise of an island. It is located on the border of the National Park. It has great hiking opportunities with a large sandy white beach. If you want to hike around the Island, you can do it it about 45 minutes. The island has excellent snorkelling with lots of coral and many different kinds of aquatic marine life to see. You can also climb the small hill to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the surrounding area of tropical waters as well as admire the fantastic sunset over Sangeang Volcano. You may also meet some of the goats as well as unique birds who live on the island. Kanawa is about 15-20 km west of Labuan Bajo and it worth the trip every time. There is a small pier for boats to dock at and visitors can enjoy the white beaches without taking a small boat to reach the island. While walking on the beach, if you look in the water, you may even see some starfish in the water as well as many fish. Many guest like to view the coral reefs and fish from the peer because the water is so clear and you can see more for a higher view point.
