The geography of Gili Lawa, is mainly rolling hills covered by grass.  It is what most would consider a dry Savannah.  It is an excellent island for hiking, and a great place to get some fantastic scenic photos of the area.  Although the island is relatively close to Komodo Island, there are no Komodo Dragons on the island. Whether hiking on Gili Lawa Darat or Gili Lawa Laut, you will very satisfied with scenic views of crystal clear waters and a nature lovers heaven. If visiting to Gili Lawa Laut, you can also experience the beautiful beach know by many as crystal beach.  It is called crystal beach because of the crystal clear waters, which are great for snorkelling and scuba diving.

In the next close by see are the famous areas of Crystal Rock, and Castle Rock.  These are very popular spots for scuba diving in the North Part of the park.  These areas are for more advanced divers as the currents in the north and become strong during the changing tide and moon phases.  Crystal Rock can be see on the surface as it is slightly exposed during low tide times.  Castle rock is much deeper in the water and can usually not be seen from the surface unless their water clearly is especially good that day.  When diving the areas, diver can see lots of orange, pink, and purple soft coral, schools of sweet lips as well as sharks, eagle rays, Barracude, Yellow-mask surgeonfish, Manta Rays and much more.
